It's that time of year again!! The Boulevard Blast 5K is quickly approaching and will be here on September 26, 2015. Make sure you don't miss out on this year's opportunity to experience Birmingham's running and active community in Historic Norwood.
Norwood Resource Center was awarded $25,000 from the UAB Community Health Innovation Awards for our proposal to create four community gardens, collectively known as the Norwood Learning Gardens, on three vacant and neglected lots dispersed throughout the neighborhood and at Norwood Elementary School.
Norwood Resource Center (NRC) is a community-based organization offering services designed to promote a healthy and productive community. NRC serves the residents of Norwood as well as residents from throughout the Greater Birmingham Area.

Attention Norwood Residents and Birmingham Citizens!
The Norwood Resource Center will be offering a FREE Walking/Run program to residents of Norwood and the public every Thursday from June 18th Thursday, September 24th. This program’s purpose is to create a healthy and active community and also prepare for the community Boulevard Blast 5K in Historic Norwood that will take place on September 26th on the Historic Norwood Boulevard.
Two (2) Norwood Residents who attend the most sessions will have the chance to win our featured prize of a monetary gift card amount presented to them at this years’ Boulevard Blast 5K in Historic Norwood.
Free Tax Return Preparation for Qualifying Taxpayers
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $52,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

The race benefits the Norwood Resource Center's programming efforts to improve the quality of life in the Norwood Community and greater Birmingham, AL. From offering programs of: Volunteer IRS Tax Assistance Program, Norwood Market at the Trolley Stop, Norwood Learning Gardens, and Norwood Junior Master Gardener Education program, and also Norwood Community Couch To 5K program.
